Detailed review of cattle squeeze chute

I recently invested in a new cattle squeeze chute. The ordering process through my local dealer was smooth, they were very helpful in explaining the different models and features. It arrived within the promised timeframe, roughly two weeks after placing the order. Assembly took me and a helper about half a day, mainly because we wanted to make sure everything was perfectly aligned. The chute itself is incredibly solid; the headgate mechanism operates very smoothly, which is a big plus for animal welfare and handler safety. I've used it for vaccinating and branding several calves already, and it holds them securely without excessive stress. The side exits are a thoughtful design touch. The only minor snag was one of the bolts for a side panel was slightly bent, but it was easily replaced from my spare parts bin. Customer support from the dealer was excellent when I had a question about the palpation cage attachment. Definitely a significant upgrade from my old setup, making tasks much more efficient.

Love my new corral panels!

Oh my goodness, I just got the new corral panels and they are fantastic! Setup was a breeze, and they feel so sturdy for my horses. I was a bit worried about the quality, but Tarter really delivered. My arena looks amazing now, and I feel so much safer working with my livestock. I'll definitely be getting more equipment from them for my ranch. Seriously impressed!

Solid gate, assembly notes

I purchased a heavy duty gate for my main pasture. The quality of the gate itself is excellent, very robust and feels like it will last a long time. Shipping was reasonable, it took about 6 days to get to my farm in Kansas. My only minor complaint is that the assembly instructions for the hinges could have been a bit clearer. I figured it out eventually, but it added a little extra time to the setup. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the product and its value, but a quick video or more detailed diagram for installation would be a helpful improvement for future customers.

Good round bale feeder

I bought a round bale feeder. It arrived fast enough. Set it up easily. Cows use it without issues. Solid build. Would buy again.

Great value on stock tank

I was looking for a new stock tank and compared a few brands. Tarter's galvanized waterer caught my eye because of the price point during a local dealer promotion. I ended up getting a really good deal, saving about $75 compared to other options I considered. It's a decent size and seems well-made for what I paid. Delivery to the dealer was quick, and picking it up was easy. I felt like I got a lot of value for my money with this purchase, which is important for my budget.

How do Tarter gates compare to Priefert? Thinking about upgrading some old ones but want something that'll really last.

T Todd 1 month ago
Both are solid, honestly. I've had both. Tarter is usually a bit heavier duty in my experience, especially their bull gates. Priefert is good too, but Tarter feels a bit more rugged for serious abuse.

Priefert is decent but I'd lean Tarter for longevity. Their steel seems thicker. You pay a bit more but it's worth it.

Thinking of buying some gates from Tarter. Are they actually made in the USA or is it like 'assembled in' stuff?

B Brett 1 month ago
They're US made. They've been around forever, family owned and all that. It's good quality stuff.

Definitely made in the USA. That's one of the main reasons I stick with them over some of the cheaper brands.

I'm looking at their round bale feeders. Does anyone know if there are any current rebates or discounts available for those?

D Dana Y. 1 month ago
Check with your local dealer. Sometimes they have inventory clearances or special sales. Tarter itself usually does manufacturer rebates, but you gotta find them through the dealer.

Yeah, 'online promo codes' for Tarter aren't really a thing. I usually just call my local dealer and ask what's up. Sometimes there are seasonal sales in spring or fall.

Hey, looking at getting one of their cattle squeeze chutes. Anyone know if they ship directly to individual farms or is it all through dealers?

P Paula 3 weeks ago
Nah, they don't ship direct from what I remember. You gotta go through a dealer. There's usually a bunch around, just check their site for a local one.

Yeah, pretty sure it's dealer only. I picked up my corral panels from a dealer about an hour away last year. Was pretty smooth.

Are there any discounts for military or first responders? About to order a big setup and every bit helps.

C Colin Y. 3 weeks ago
I think they do have a military discount. You'd have to ask the dealer directly though. That's usually how those kinds of things are handled.

D David 3 weeks ago
Yeah, they usually do. My buddy got a discount on his new squeeze chute with his military ID. Just confirm with the dealership you're buying from.

What's the deal with their warranty? Like, if a gate hinge busts after a year, am I out of luck?

J Josh 1 month ago
They have a warranty on their gates. I think it's like a year or two for manufacturing defects. Best to check their site or ask your dealer for the specifics, but they usually stand behind their stuff.

E Emma B. 1 month ago
My understanding is if it's a defect, they'll usually cover it. Just don't go ramming it with your tractor, lol. Had a friend get a gate replaced once, was pretty straightforward.
